Hello again...

....and we're back!!

For a while, it's been too easy to lump this blog in with the world trip as this crazy foolish adventure that remains hermetically sealed in our photos, journals, addled memories and this wee spot on the interweb. In fact, it feels odd now to be doing this from our couch at home and not from the top bunk of a crappy hostel leeching low-signal wiffy from some nearby restaurant.

Anyway, we thought we'd come back and do a whack of posts on our most recent trip to Europe so that everyone gets the story and photies from one convenient link.

To maximise the dramatic impact of our tale, we'll be doing this episodically. In doing so, we hope to provide a visceral experience of the sights, the sounds, the smells....oh, the smells!! of our journey every step of the way. (Ok, not every step -just the ones we can remember.)

Before we begin, some briefing is necessary:

Our Cast of Characters:

Ladies & gents, we give you - the band for whom rock is a beast to be slayed before dinner:

zelig. plus 1

(L-R)
Marty: plays the Satancaster, for which, as we'll see, he will pay dearly.
John: plays the pink bass. In a manly way.
Cary: plays a much quieter guitar and sings the songs that Gem refuses to.
Girly: (call her Ban-Lay all you like, she's Girly to us) doesn't play anything as a matter of principle, but appears to keep our drummer happy.
Robin: plays the drums. Claims that his mastery of GPS navigation came from hitting a tom-tom.
Gemma: sings the songs that Cary can't.

Our Mission:

To commemorate our 10th anniversary (as a loose concept encompassing many incarnations), we decided to launch our First European Tour. As we would be doing so at the behest of no-one in particular, we knew from the start that the actual playing of our music would be inconvenient, uninvited and silly.

Hence, our tour would showcase our other gift: conspicuous consumption.

Our Itinerary:

Amsterdam - Ghent - Somewhere in French Country - Paris - London - and for caryandgemma, home.

Our Hero:

Eeha@ Jetset Kardinya
- without whom we would have had to sell our organs to pay for this foolish venture.

Stay tuned for take-off!!

and yes, the monkey's coming too.
